Experimental

Sarah's school is having a science fair for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.  She's been talking about it for a couple of weeks, but only brought the packet home tonight.  I know what we'll be doing over spring break.  She wants to grow seeds in different soils and measure the growth to determine the better soil.  I remember growing mold for my Honorable Mention in 5th grade.

I took the purple quilt into work today as planned.  My boss actually had the carpets cleaned over the weekend so the conditions were even better than I thought they would be.  I was concerned about the pieced back, but I actually think I'm on to something.  The back seems to very stable and not prone to the distortion I sometimes get with a two section pieced back.  I didn't do a very precise job of cutting the too large batting with my crappy scissors.  I'm going to take my cutting mat into work and trim the batting flush with the backing tomorrow.  After I complete that step, I'll flip it over and place the top on it.  I'm going to safety pin the layers together.

I started A's puppy quilt since I had an open design wall.  He is so excited!  I rarely make a quilt as a pattern dictates.  I decided that I didn't want to applique anything but the puppies so I drafted a pattern for the alternate blocks.  I'm wishing that I had more light browns in my stash for the 9-Patch blocks.  I may want to pick up a FQ or two.

The blocks appear larger in the picture below.  They're actually pretty small at 6" finished.
