Extra Work

I got to thinking about the strips I cut of the paisley fabric for the borders that I ended up not using.  The fabric strips would have languished in my stash forever.

I get attached to fabric.  I have so many FQs and yardage that I find excuses not to use.

I decided to piece the back for the purple quilt.  I did it today.  I used the border strips and the rest of the yardage to cut more strips.  I pieced the varying lengths of the purple strips with leftover fabrics and some new ones.  I'm glad I did this.  I won't be spending more money on fabric for the back.

I haven't pieced the strips together yet.

I've never pieced a back like this before.  I've pieced 2 widths of fabric.  I've other backs with large sections.  I wonder how tough its going to be to make my quilt sandwich.  I'm also a little worried about quilting the quilt with this type of back. 

We went over to a friend's last night for an impromptu birthday party for her.  We didn't get home until almost 2 am.  I got up at 7 and with Daylight Savings time I didn't get my hours in.  I'm tired!
